My favorite media site that usually I serve to is GALATTA.COM . Personally I like this site because, Galatta.com is a complete movie portal which features the latest on Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi and English movies. But mainly, I only will focus on Tamil and sometimes on Hindi galatta site. It is also cool and impressive, this popular portal brings hot and happening stuff from the sizzling world of cinema. With access to every other behind-the-screen event in the tinsel world, Galatta.com is the movie buff’s ideal site for the latest news on movies. The site also features Movie Reviews, Previews, Trailers, Latest Film Songs, Photos of actors and actresses, Stills from movies, Wallpapers, Celebrity Interviews, Celebrity Profiles, Show Timings and a lot more filmy stuff.

To enhance more on this media site, I have did some researches on About Galatta.com , whereby found out that Galatta.com is one of the fastest growing movie portals in India and is currently the #1 Movie Portal in South India with more than 800,000 members . LOL (Live Out Loud) Uni Talk

Live Out Loud is all about to helping student to determine their potential by summiting their resume for an internship or career opportunities. LOL (Live Out Loud) also provide opportunities to go behind the scene with the Hot FM, Fly FM and One FM radio announcers on a studio visit and see how they heat up the airwaves. They also have assignments whereby, need the students to get A+ on the assignment by getting up close and personal with Hot FM team. Next, can able to plaster the website’s bulletin board with any upcoming e vents happening in the school.  Need to send in a request to get hands on the exclusive merchandise for the student’s events. Then can also send in entries for them to crash our campus for a perceptive Uni Talk. Finally, they are also having a special contest to take part in to win awesome prices.

All of this is partially what had been provided and brought by LOL to reach student’s attention. Before the event took place in Segi University College, tertiary students were encouraged to submit entries through Fly FM’s LOL (Live Out Loud) portal convincing Fly FM to crash their campus for this insightful Uni Talk, and based on submissions, SEGi University College was chosen to be one of the stops for this inspiring session.

At Segi University College Kota Damansara, on July 7^th 2011, Thursday around 12:40pm the campus was exposed with LOL (Live Out Live) pamphlets and advertisements on walls of each floor and there were banners put up at the staircases and also the members and as well as the helper of LOL (Live Out Live) can be seen walking around the campus in their black customized designed t-shirt. It was all about living our loud at Segi on the day. This event was presented by Fly FM as part of Media Prima Radio Network (MPRN)’s CSR program, Live Out Loud (LOL) brought a truly engaging and inspiring Uni Talk to the students of SEGi. The LOL (Live Out Live) Uni Talk event, was held at Auditorium A of its official venue, SEGi University College, Kota Damansara. Students of SEGi University College started arriving at 1pm, with excitement to meet the Celebrity Guests of Honours or easily to be known as the VIP’s.

     The registration began at 1.30pm, at outside of the Auditorium A and the hallway of 2^nd floor, heading towards the Auditorium A was packed with students as they began to get in line to get themselves registered. Few decorated table’s were set over there, piles of black goody bags were neatly arranged beside the registration table and the LOL (Live Out Live) also were welcoming us with smiles and directing the way. During the registration, students were given with a door gift-ish goody bag, which had pamphlets of the LOL (Live Out Live) event, Starbucks coupons, Fly FM car sticker, Faces magazine and some refreshments such as crackers, Memory vitamins. A lucky draw number were also provided to the students at the registration counters. Whereby, my number was number 8.

After getting the goody bags,  students were also requested to ‘Like’ the Official LOL (Live Out Live) page on Facebook, the helper/member of LOL (Live Out Live) also had provided laptop and Iphone of thiers for us to ‘Life’ the page. And for those who had liked it, were given a LOL (Live Out Live) badge. We went in and sat in the Auditorium A after settling the registration. As we were in there, the helpers/members of LOL (Live Out Live) were arranging the stage and songs was going on while waiting to start the event. The LOL (Live Out Live) event was officially launched at 2.45pm, by the Fly FM Announcer, Zher who was the emcee for the event, keeping the sessions lively and engaging.

The Auditorium A was packed with students from various courses such as Mass Communication, American Degree Programme (ADP), Nursing , ect. As the students were getting in with anxiousness, they had projected LOL (Live Out Live) launching video about 5-7 minutes. Then when, everyone begin to settled down with excitement on their face as it was time to meet the celebrity living in the limelight, Nazrudin Rahman (TV Host, Actor & Producer) and Jacklyn Victor ( Malaysia’s Pop Diva, Promising Actress). The celebrities had a photo session together with the student as a group pictures as they enter the Auditorium A.

As both the young stars were being interviewed by Fly FM’s announcer, Zher, students began to pay close attention on what the icon’s had to say about their ups and down in life in return to reach the spotlight of their lives, about their life backgrounds, how they had achieved to be what they are now, the stars illustrated the life of being a celebrity in Malaysia and what actually got their foot into this industry and it was so much more that is motivating for students. I still remember the knowledge that Jacklyn Victor had shared with us, whereby she when through rough times taking critics that are bad which nearly made her to break down. She had listen to her mother’s advice which her mother told to her that “take all the good comments happily and take all the bad comments as good where by doing that can able to learn to correct the bad comments as a better one in future”, personally it is motivating for me.

The interview session was over by 3.15pm, and the floor was open to the Q&A (questions and answers) session for Nazurudin Rahman and Jacklyn Victor. Students pointed out various questions to the celebrities. After that, as a token of appreciation a LOL (Live Out Live) award was given to them. Then,  Jacklyn Victor and Nazurudin Rahman left from the Auditorium A as their next schedule calls in their busy life.

Just after the Living In The Limelight session was over, the World of Radio took place. In this session, Hunny Madu (Fly FM announcer, Singer, Actress), Prem Shanker (Fly FM announcer, TV Host), Fara Aida Dahlan (Haed Brand Communication, Media Prima Radio Network), Vikneswaran Kajindran (Assistant Manager-Sales, Media Prima Radio Network) were the highlights. During the showdown, Hunny Madu spoke about her career as a Fly FM announcer and an upcoming singer, as she released her debut single ‘Miss Strong’, that was picked to be the theme song for Gempak Astro tour around Malaysia. Hunny Madu is also a host and a breakthrough entertainer, songwriter. In course of almost 3 years in the industry, Hunny was the pioneer host for ‘8TV Nite Live’. She also had mentioned had she got married and it was a surprise for me.

As on Prem Shanker, he started off in the radio industry as part of the on-ground team while pursuing his studies in Mass  Communications and was soon offered a job as a Fly FM’s radio announcer in 2007. Prem also stepped into the limelight as host of 8TV Quickie and the station’s own game show called Whack It! Season 1 and 2 in 2009. Aside from a full time career, Prem dedicates time for his passion as a ‘club DJ’ and has already stepped in the scene by becoming emcee/hypeman and has started deejaying in clubs around KL. Prem’s also shared his lifestyle and told about his career life.  

The group then moved on to Fara Aida and Vikneswaran as they are the Head Brand Communication and Assistant Manager-Sales for Media Prima Radio Network. Both of them had shared their experiences working in the Media Prima Radio Network. Certain details that they told regarding their work as new information for me, because I never had knew about the position they that holding and the work they are doing which is really important to managing a media. Overall, in this session the panel discussed the little known facts of what goes on behind the scenes of a radio station. At 4.00pm the Auditorium was open to the students for the Q&A (question and answers) session for Hunny Madu, Prem, Fara Aida and Vickneswaran. But mostly, they question were asked to Hunny Madu and Prem, there were not much of question to Fara Aida and Vickneswaran.  

At 4.15pm, the crowed begin to shout in excitement and the showdown kicked off with Inspiring Stories from an Icon, Harith Iskandar, a Stand-Up Comedian and Entrepreneur. Harith is generally acknowledged as Malaysia’s premier stand-up comedian. For more than a decade, he has performed ‘live’ at countless events and entertained thousands of Malaysians and foreigners with his unique and original material. Harith’s comedy performance is in great demand and any company function is never complete without Harith inevitably bringing the house down with his side-splitting performances. With huge success in Malaysia, Harith has been invited to perform in many parts of Asia, from Thailand to Hong Kong and even in Dubai. Apart from being the country’s No 1 comedian, Harith is also an accomplisher, award winning film director, actor and writer, as he shares about him. In his own words, his main love will always be making people laugh with his stand-up performances.

As Harith started his spontaneous comedy, the Auditorium was filled with loud laughter and echoing claps. Some teared due the hard core laughs they had. As I can remember what liked about Harith is that, he told a statement about why there is ‘others’ in the race category list in forms?, as he was sharing his memorize of his childhood and also he stated that if possible he want to remove the ‘other’ choosing column and this statement had made me to respect him a lot. He also had shared his steps to success as who is he now, Harith stated something like this, eventhough had a good job, but I was not happy with it even can be very success in it, so I had choose my own desired job which I’m loving it now and happy and also success with it now with his doctor wife. This is also a motivating word for all of us, to choose a job that we can be happy in it and work with our passion.

Harith wrapped up the finale with Q&A (question and answer), as he answered interesting questions from his fellow fans and the students were kept at the edge of their seats, with non-stop laughter for his replies for the questions. End of the session with Harith I had stomach pain due to laughing at his interesting jokes, such as CSI Malaysian version jokes, and Facebook (poke) jokes, translating modern songs and comparing it to old version songs and as so on more. Throughout the session with all the different speakers, the students were given insightful tales of how to make a breakthrough into the industry, and how it is also very important for aspiring entertainers to always “be themselves”. The students were encouraged to believe and be passionate towards their talents, and to never be fearful when chasing their dreams.

The finale of the event ended with the Lucky Draw, sponsored by Full House, Faces Magazines, Elianto, Starbucks, Corntos, Mister Potato, Flavettes, Dirty Nelly’s, John Balliann, Quiksilver. Students won prizes like Incubus concert tickets, Universal Music CD Pack, Quiksilver Merchandise, Elianto Gift Set, Fullhouse Dining vouchers, Dirty Nelly's food voucher, John Galliano Perfume sets, Panasonic Lumix Compact Camera worth RM1899. Students were given lucky draws according to their registration number, prizes was given away by the Head of Fly FM. All celebrities attended were given token of Appreciation by SEGi University College Chairman, Dato’ Professor Dr Jamaludin Mohaiadin. Unfortunately, I didn’t won any of the lucky draw but was cheering for others who were lucky.

In line with SEGi University College’s vision of providing more than just the usual lifestyle to its students, the vibrant Live Out Loud Uni Talk presented by Fly FM truly was an enriching, and of course inspiring experience for the lucky students, and also students had the opportunity to meet the celebrities, get to know the how the icon’s had achieved and get some advices and also laughter’s. Personally, I had enjoyed the LOL (Live Out Loud) Uni Talk a lot, since I had gained some information about the industry life and how to cope with it in future. It was a good experience for me by this LOL Uni Talk.

It took 22 years to create who I am today. Within these years, I have been exploring myself in this world trying my best to achieve the goals and the dreams that myself and my parents have wished for, by going through all the strange and wonderful things in the world around me.

My name is Ageetha Selvarajoo, close friends of mine cal me as Agee and I was born in Hospital Besar Kuala Lumpur (HBKL) on 24^th of August 1989. I grew up in a healthy family. I was raise up in Kepong till I was 10 years old and had moved to Rawang and till now I am leaving here, with all the needs and wants together with my small happy family which I’m grateful till now.

As for siblings, I have an elder brother and also a younger brother. My elder brother name is Dinesh Kanna, 24 years old and he currently had completed ACCA and working as an auditor and as for my younger brother he is 20 years old and he is doing his diploma in Mechanical Engineering in INTI Nilai. 

My parents both had stable careers, which owns auditing and taxing company and this had provided us with more opportunities to learn what we desired. I also have two dogs, which one of it is a golden retriever and the other one is a mixed breed and this made my childhood days more colourful. I am leaving a moderate living lifestyle surrounded by the ones I care for.

To think back of my memories, I remember when I was a young girl, I used to be very busy with my daily routine of life. Whereby, my parents had registered me to piano class and Tae Kwon Do classes. I still remember my first expensive gift ever; my parents had bought a piano for me. I have been exploring music since I was learning with one of the best teacher in Yamaha School. This had affected me so much, clashing my tuition class when I was about to have my PMR. So, I have stopped Tae Kwon Do and also piano lesson to concerntrade more with my studies and I’m planning to continue my piano lesson and complete it with merit once I have completed my degree programme. After passing my PMR results, my name was under science stream class in form 4 which I was not satisfied with is, it is because I’m not a fan of mathematics. I don’t like math’s at all last time, so I changed to arts streams and I was very happy with the decision that I have made, it is because I love arts, I like to paint and draw. It is my passion. 

After all the hardship I went through, success was finally shown in my SPM results, and I gave my mother all the rights to choose my diploma course. My mother had chosen Diploma in Broadcast Communication in Tunku Abdul Rahman College. While waiting for the intake for my step to college lifestyle, I had worked at my father’s office as receptionist and also works at Standard Chartered HQ as a data entry and earn enough money to learn driving and also had passed and got a license. After that, my college life had started, I stayed in hostel over there for two years and had successfully completed my Diploma with merit. I can say that I am a very independent girl, and I love adventure as well, travelling to places. I have a big desire to go to Venezuela, as I have earn enough money to go on my own. 

As year’s passes, many friends also did, meet wonderful people and also had learned a lot from others that had gave the courage to be strong in my life. After I had graduated from Tar College, I registered myself to continue my Degree in Broadcast Communication in University Tunku Abdul Rahman, I withdraw from second year first semester there due to some accommodation problem.

Then, I start working at Scicom-Singtel at Menara TA as Customer Care Executive (CCE) while looking for other Universities or Colleges to apply. I worked for 6 months at there and have gain a lot of general knowledge of Singaporean and of working life, because it is a Singapore based company which is located in Kuala Lumpur. Then, I registered Degree in Mass communication in Segi University College together with my friend Jasreender who studied diploma with me at Tarc. Due to we have completed our diploma we have straightly joined into second year.

Now, I am in second year second semester and as for this semester, it is a short semester and there are three subjects that I am taking. One of the subjects is Media Technology and Practices, which is taught by Miss Nabilah Idrus. As I get to know of the subject, at the beginning, not much of understanding I had, then as been explained and had a bit of debating by our lecturer to explaining how to look at the media technology, then I begin to catch up with my own understandings. My personal opinion on media and technology is that, basically it refers to verities of things, not depended to one media only, a lot of ways of media that reaches to the audiences by technology.

In general, “media” refers to various means of communication. For example, television, radio, and the newspaper are different types of media. Next, my thought if “technology” is that it is the most general definition of technology is the application of technology is the application of science or knowledge to commerce and industry. Many fields of science have benefited from technology, as well as commerce and industry over the many centuries of human history.

In my opinion, media and technology is one of the fastest growning concepts in the world. It has changed the way we do just about everything. It has made a considerable transformation in how we communicate. From MTV to the internet, digital media and technology has provided tool to allow expression that was once only available to some people’s mind. For example, audio, lightings, video, phones, and as so on more going to digital format nowadays. Today the technology had provided tools to extract these images and thoughts to others. Can be said that, media and technology is already in our life such as everyday there is a new form of digital media emerging. These forms can be from web-cams, flat-screen TV’s, color screen cell phones, virtual reality systems, holographic theaters, digital papers and etc. The rapid developments in digital media technology have profound effects on human communication.

To brief more on this media and technology as in my understanding, it also can be said that emergence of the technology to another more high technology, meaning to say, like upgrade to another level of new technology for the media. So, there are a lot of medium to deliver message to the people and by latest technology, it can easily and quickly deliver the message to the audience. To give a clear picture of my understanding, those days cellular phones will be as for an important purpose, and maybe only been own by people who can afford. But nowadays, everyone owns cellular phones. Which, the purpose of a phone is to call out and receive calls, but cellular phones like iPhone, Blackberry are very costly and high-tech phones that been used by people. There are a lot of functions in these cellular phones. For example, can take picture, can surf internet, play games, can chat, can 3g call and as so on that technology had brought to media. Another example will be that television, from normal black and white television, changed to colour then it became as satellite channels and so on, but now there is 3g television, HD channels and more on that technology had created to media.

Media and technology worlds must work together, it is the best combinations for all of us to explore into a new lifestyle. There is not a shred of a doubt about it. To elaborate more on this, simply to say is that media and technology if not from only by media, it can be from me to you by email address as well. It is also a form of media which uses technology. Whereby, via email you can exchange information by technology. That is why it is known as living in information era. To begin in details of all this, as what I have understand is that those days where there were no technology, message was delivered to people by different way. Which those methods without technology back those days took a long time period to reach to them. For example, writing in rocks, craving in caves and as so on. But nowadays, there are so many ways to deliver message to people. Within few second the message will be delivered to the targeted people. That is how much the technology had influence in the world.

Even as for me, I am not so good in the new technology systems and devices but without the help of the latest technologies or devices, it will be very hard in our daily life. Common example will be that, internet service, without internet there will be no life as for me. It will be very hard for me to do assignments, check emails and so on. So, I need the help of technology which is the internet to make my life easier and more updated. From traditional industry to now, which is the digital age or to be known as digital revolution, there are a lot of differences. Meaning to say, in this era, which is the digital revolution era it was brought through industrialization, to an economy based on the manipulation of information.

To give example from those days to current technology that media had based on my knowledge is that, last time, had newspapers, then radio, then had television, then had internet, then e-news can be read through internet, we have cellular phones from normal land line phones, technology had upgraded all this things into newer version, latest gadgets or can be said also as latest devises to keep the media closer to the audience in this modern world. The relationship between technology and the media is that it is very simple to look at, just look around us today, what do we really see? As for me, I can see technology is being thrown at us from all kinds of places. For one the media has brought technology to another level. But if you really look at the whole picture technology is media. The both of them interact with each other and can be said that also depending to one another as well.

We are been rushed off your feet by media and technology, actually it can be said that we are not having any control over it, and don't know what to believe about technology anymore.
The media always brings us the up to date advances in technology, whether it is a new form of Internet connection or anything else. Media is always there for technology. Nowadays no one has complete control over media or technology, whereby it is run by large industry in majority of the countries.

What else I do understand about media and technology is that, it makes our life’s more easier and as in the same time it is also making us to be lazy at some point. Social media is also a form of technology media. Whereby, for example Facebook, Friendster, Myspace YouTube and also so on more is also under media technology. To explain more on this subject, as for myself I was clearly been explained in a form of debating in our class which was arranged by our lecturer. The topic of it was “Online Newspaper versus Blog”, and what I had observed and understand was that there are certain differences in this both digital technology media. By this, I can able to think in different way to see the technology that had been brought to all of us.

I also had learned that, there are positive effects and also negative effects to have latest technology in the media. Depends how wisely had been used.  Media and technology industries develop value growth strategies, improve operations and maximize organizational effectiveness. Meaning to say that, by technology in the media it improves certain things to the people that they appreciate it.  For example, as in the class, we were required to bring articles and explain of the article to all for better understandings. My article was about WIPI Phone which is the future of landline phones. As for this device, it was designed by Bon-Seop Ku. So Bon-Seop had came up with a combination of laptop and also phone where this WIPI Phone can be placed anywhere as we wanted to and there are USB, Ethernet jack and as so on more. So, everyone is upgrading themselves.

Media and technology are interpreted in the broadest to encompass digital broadcasting, the internet and online resources and other new and emerging formats. As well as the traditional media of print, broadcast television and radio. There are a lot of things that can be asked, to give example about this subject, as to have extra thinking and different views, need to have a lot of discussion and also debates all need to be attended. My classmates also had shared about the future technology in media to all of us which gave me more ideas and knowledge by listening to their articles and explanation by my lecturer. What I can say is that, media is evolving each and every time.

We have also learned about Marshal McLuhan’s theory. Whereby, McLuhan defines medium as any extension of humankind. This is to say that technology does not change humanity, but it simply adds to what human already are. This is what I had understood and this is also all based on my opinion about the media and technology. In conclusion, what I think is that media technology sometimes has disadvantages, for example children’s are getting spoiled with this kind of technologies, such as video games, online games, high technology cellular phones and as so on. This affects on children the most, as for some teenagers it is also effects their daily life if they are over using it. The important thing is that I have learned is the process of the message being transmitted, if understand the process and the method and the target is to deliver message to the audience then the technology will be easy to be handled by media. So far this is what I have absorbed on media and technology is all about and due to this subject I can able to get to know more on all this media and technologies and hope to learn more in this subject on the following weeks.

After I complete my degree, I will have the opportunity to obtain a stable and challenging career. I know that the road ahead will not be easy for me, but I cannot stop here. I need to move on in order to reach my goals together with the media and technology. My success in the future lies in my own hands. It is all about introduction of myself and my opinion and understanding about media and technology.
